I can't Do This Anymore.

I have lost count of how many times I have heard this thought.

Gratefully, I made it through that valley. I found a place of peace despite the torment of pain, lost love, sin, failures, bad choices, and the nagging lie that I would never measure up.

Today, a young lady posted something heartbreaking: "I was lied to by my parents and my grandparents." She had been told all her life that God wouldn't give her more than she could handle and that one day she would find joy. But she was broken, admitting she just couldn't do it anymore.

I felt her pain down to my bones.

At one point in my life, death sounded like relief. It felt like the only way out, and I never believed I would make it to the other side.

Yet here I am.

I made it.

I desperately wanted to reach through the screen and tell her how to survive this. It starts with shifting how we see the weight we carry.

We often treat life like we’re solo hikers packing a heavy rucksack, stubbornly stuffing every rock, regret, and trial into our own pack until our knees buckle and our spine gives out. We look up at the mountain, crushed under the load, thinking, “Why would God put this much weight on me?” But He never handed us that backpack and told us to carry it all ourselves. When we reach the point where our knees collapse under the dirt, it isn’t proof of failure—it is an invitation to take the pack off and hand it over.

Think back to the classic story, The Little Engine That Could.

The little blue engine wasn't the biggest, fastest, or strongest, but while others gave up, it shifted its internal dialogue. It went from the paralysis of "I can't" to the steady rhythm of "I think I can."

Perspective shifts reality.

The common saying gets it wrong: God often allows us to face far more than we can handle on our own—specifically so we stop trying to be our own saviors and learn to rely on Him. We aren't meant to carry this crushing weight alone.

Stop carrying burdens meant to be surrendered. Cast your cares upon Him.

Change your mindset, surrender the weight, and your life will follow. Trust in God.
